Safeguarding Lead and Child and Family Officer (CAFO)

Hours: 37

Working weeks: 43 (to be confirmed at interview)

Pay grade: G8 Point 21-24 (£33,024 - £36,648 pro rata, actual salary £31,558 - £35,020)

Fortuna Primary School is an SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) school which is in federation with Athena School. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to work with parents and families. You will be based at The Fortuna School working directly with children and their parents/carers and external agencies to ensure all pupils have full access to educational opportunities and are able to overcome barriers to learning and participation.

You will be able to relate well and develop good rapport with a wide range of people. Able to deal with sensitive issues, you should be empathetic and able to achieve positive outcomes through effective communication and influencing skills.

The role will be challenging and rewarding and requires excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to empower others, work collaboratively with staff and work autonomously. Experience of delivering support and understanding children within their family context is essential, as well as work experience within education, social care or the voluntary sector.

We are looking for applicants with:

  • Significant experience of working with and engaging parents/carers and children through individual and/or group-based support.
  • The ability to develop and deliver a range of family learning opportunities to support parents/carers to engage more fully in their child’s learning
  • Drive, enthusiasm, resilience and positive attitudes
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong partnership skills, working professionally and confidently in close liaison other agencies
  • Significant experience of safeguarding in schools.
  • A passion for working in an outstanding setting who are committed to developing their own professional skills and career in an innovative setting and with a highly skilled staff team.

 

This role will involve:

 

  • To monitor and respond to day to day safeguarding concerns in the school, in liaison with Head of school
  • To make necessary referrals for additional support for pupils and their families.
  • To take a lead role in ensuring staff and governors are up to date with their safeguarding training
  • To undertake early help assessments with families and lead TAC meetings, as required.
  • To support in the safe recruitment and induction of new staff
  • To deliver safeguarding training to staff
  • Working closely on promoting school attendance and offering strategic support including the interrogation of data.
  • Become a key facilitator with specific agencies and services i.e. Family Support Service, Early Help, cluster groups.
  • Attending LAC Reviews, CIN meetings and preparing the appropriate reports
  • Assist with the development and relevant projects linked to behaviour, child protection and attendance and the implementation of these.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with pupils to improve self-esteem and build confidence and resilience
  • Work with the Inclusion team, families, parents and carers to overcome barriers to learning
  • Provide support and guidance for parents
  • Signpost parents/carers to the support they need
  • Develop professionally and work in a setting that will allow for growth and development within the role.

We are looking for Level 1 Teaching Assistant to start ASAP.
We are looking for creative, empathic, passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our
committed staff team. Experience of working with children who display extremely challenging
behaviour would be an advantage. Applications are invited from suitably motivated and enthusiastic
individuals, from preferably a primary or secondary background, to join our happy committed, and
supportive staff team.
