Welcome to Miss Senior's Class

Hello everybody and welcome to our class page. In our team, we have 3 adults - Class Teacher Miss Senior and Teaching Assistants Mrs O'Hear and Mrs Holroyd. We have a fantastic class full of wonderful children who brighten our up our days! Take a look below at our current learning.

Literacy

In English, we are spending this term looking at two books Shackelton's Journey and Lost and Found. Both or these books are about a journey across an icy ocean. We will be using lots of words to describe settings and writing our own journey stories.

MATHS

We follow a 5 day programme:

Day 1 - place value, addition and subtraction

Day 2 - geometry and data handling

Day 3 - measures

Day 4 - multiplication, division, decimals, fractions and percentages

Day 5 - Mathematical reasoning

This term we will be focusing on money as well as learning our 2's, 5's and 10 times tables.

The children also all have a Sumdog and a Times Table Rock Stars account, to help them learn these (logins are in the homework books). Please encourage your child to play on this at home. 20 minutes a week is the goal.

Foundation subjects

Geography- We are looking at maps and atlases and then discussing time and climate zones.

Science - This term we are learning all about magnets and forces! We will look at the poles on the magnets and investigate which materials are magnetic.

PSHE - This term we will be looking at mental health week and thinking about how we are connected to other people.

Oxford Owls - eBooks for home Click Levels, then Book Band and then the colour of your books. Free readers can choose All Ages and then click their age range.

Phonics Play I have set the link for Phase 3. If it is too hard move to Phase 2, if it is too easy move to Phase 4.

Daily Phonics Daily video lessons for Speed Sounds. Miss Seniors group should do Set 1 sounds. Mr Chaplin's group should do Set 2 (Move up to Set 3 if you find it too easy).

Sumdog - for maths, spelling and reading Click tasks to choose either maths, reading or spelling games. I will set some challenges for you to practise specific skills.
